Robert
Bell creates pottery that has a whimsical nature, using bright
colors and unique design elements to display everyday objects.
Bell received his BME from the University of South Carolina
and began studying pottery upon moving to Florida in 2002.
From there, Bell studied teapot techniques at Penland School
of Crafts in Penland, NC. He is currently the owner and potter
of The Speckled Dog Pottery in Fort Lauderdale, FL. His work
is represented in many galleries and museums in South Carolina
and Florida and he has exhibited and discussed his work in
various venues throughout Florida.
The
Speckled Dog’s pots are both wheel thrown and hand built,
many incorporating natural elements such as leaves, twigs,
pine straw and glass. The
glazes are all food safe and can be placed in the oven,
microwave and dishwasher.
