The
subjects of my ceramic forms come from the traditional vessel. I
am not making pieces about use, volume, or tactility. It is
specifically about decorated surfaces outside and inside. The
decoration is a complex play of the organic effect of pit firing
against areas of translucent glaze, bright and pastel under
glazes, and expanded surfaces of wire and thread. The shapes may
be simple forms but the overall effects may take over twenty
steps to complete.
