 Michael received his BFA from East Carolina University. He is currently a figure drawing instructor at Emerge Gallery in Greenville, NC. His work has won awards in numerous shows throughout North Carolina and his work is included in the collections of East Carolina University and several collectors world wide. "My work is about social responsibility and the fatigue of culture on the human condition. Much like the work of Francisco Goya or Kathe Kollwitz, I am concerned about the toll of civilization on the human spirit. I attempt to relay this feeling our culture instills in me through the use of pre-industrial materials and techniques like the use of dramatic yet subtle light and shadow."
