Artist's
Statement
“My
years spent in Naples, Italy and my travels to Greece each
summer are reflected in my art., In these places I was/am
surrounded by colorful tiles, pottery shards, Greek, Roman,
and Renaissance frescoes, mosaics, and other evidence of
ancient cultures. It was a profound experience to live in
another country. Both in Italy and Greece, I was completely
“seduced” by both countries – the land, the art, the
history, the myths, the language, the color and light of
Naples, and the Italian and Greek people. My paintings allow
me to make connections between my life and the life of the
ancient Roman and Greek women.”
