Artist’s
Statement
“Many
of the memories that most influence my paintings come from
three years spent living in a small northwestern Pennsylvania
farm community when I was between the ages of seven and ten.
I didn't realize at the time that the scenes that surrounded
me during those years would emerge again and again over a
lifetime of painting. I cannot imagine removing those
images from my memory; they are so integrated into the person
I have become.
My sensitivity to nature has been further nurtured as an adult
by the rugged coastline of Maine and the beauty of the
constantly changing South Carolina marshland.”
