PAULA RIDDLE

A native Newberrian, Paula has been an art educator since 1988. She graduated from Newberry High and returned to teach there after receiving her BA from Lander College (1986)and recieving her a MAT from University of South Carolina (1988).
She was the entrepreneur of Original Works Studio and Gallery from 1998-2008 and presently is an Associate Professor of Art at Newberry College (2004-2011).

Paula is represented at City Art Gallery, Columbia, SC, The Blend, Prosperity, SC, Simple Necessities, Newberry, SC and The Mack Museum, McCormick, SC. She has work in permanent collections such as Piedmont Technical College, Greenwood, SC and Newberry Hospital��s Healing Power of Art Exhibit. Her work has been accepted and received awards in numerous shows, such as Piccolo Spoleto Juried Exhibit, the SC State Fair, and in Anderson, Greenwood, and Union County juried shows. She was voted “Best Local Artist” for five years and has been featured in the Lake Murray Magazine. Riddle is diverse in media, working in watercolors, printmaking, mixed media and clay.

Artist Statement: “I love creating art, I love the process, and the challenge of achieving a desired effect. I particularly enjoy working with texture, trying to capture it in an implied fashion in a painting, a print or in a more tactile surface on a piece of pottery.”
